The Gospel of John, Chapter 1 gives us a brief account of the existence of Jesus Christ long before He was conceived in Mary’s womb. It’s one of the most spectacular truths enshrined in Christianity because it gives us clarity on the sovereign deity of the person of Jesus Christ.
John 1:1-2 (AMP)
In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being.
When we ponder on the birth of Jesus Christ, we ought not to downplay or diminish the ingenious handiwork of our triune God. Think about this for a second: Our triune God who is uncreated created mankind as a specimen of His glory. We were created to carry His supernatural glory in our natural form; to replicate the holiness of His image on earth; to showcase His likeness and reproduce the fruits of His spirit throughout all generations.
The lineage of Jesus the Messiah unfolded over centuries, culminating in the awaited moment when the perfect vessel, Mary, emerged. Her existence seemed destined as she alone proved worthy to naturally bear and nurture the one who had known her even before her own formation.
Mary, in a profound sense, became the instrument through which her own Creator came into the natural realm. She was chosen to bring forth, in the natural order, the extraordinary second person of the Trinity. For the first time in the history of the divine Trinity, one of its members has chosen to envelop themselves in a tangible, human form. This is not only exclusive but also a truly unique and unprecedented experience.
The embodiment of Jesus Christ in human flesh was divinely ordained by God the Father as the exclusive means through which humanity could be rescued from the consequences of death. Death, representing separation from God, stands as the ultimate outcome of a life tainted by sin. According to scripture, we are all conceived with this inherent infection and born into a profoundly corrupted world surrounded by similarly afflicted individuals. How does one then overcome a malady they are born with, a condition coursing through their veins, soul, and spirit at the deepest level?
1 John 4:14 (NLT):
“Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.”
Romans 6:23 (NLT):
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The question arises: Why would God undergo such intricate measures? What prompts His profound concern for humanity’s salvation? Given His sovereign power, He could have chosen to start anew with a different breed of mankind post-Adam and Eve’s disobedience. The option to begin afresh after the flood was also within His grasp. Yet, despite the inclination of humanity toward disobedience, wickedness, and ignorance, God chose not to restart His heavenly agenda with a new breed of humanity.
Why endure the challenges of a breed predisposed to so many shortcomings? Moreover, why permit His Son to be born through a vessel conceived in sin? What elevates man and woman to a level of significance that merits God’s unwavering attention and intervention?
It appears that God intended to replicate the creative process employed in the narrative of Earth’s formation when it was initially void and shrouded in darkness. Analogous to the separation of light from darkness on the first day of creation, God seemed poised to supernaturally repeat this transformative process with humanity. The necessity arose to illuminate our human perversion and darkness with His divine light. Through this illumination, God aimed to separate and set apart those who could embody His light, dwell in His light and reflect His light.
Without God’s light, darkness, formlessness, nakedness, emptiness and death prevail. However, in the radiance of His light, humans gain the capacity to bear the heavenly seed of God, with His actual DNA coursing through their veins.
Romans 8:29-30
“For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstbornamong many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.”
So yes: this blog is the exploration of a DNA story and to a greater extent God’s Love Story.
John 3:16 (NLT):
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
God the Father sent His Son to experience a beginning, a commencement foreign to His existence within the uncreated Trinity. This beginning marked the initiation of a new creation—an entirely distinct species set apart from the tainted one. The second Adam’s purpose was to redeem the consequences ushered in by the actions of the first Adam.
As part of this new creation, we have the extraordinary privilege of intimately knowing God in unimaginable ways and perpetually making Him known. This knowledge is boundless and grants us the ecstatic opportunity to showcase the dynamic aspects of God within each chosen individual. Like a dazzling display of fireworks on earth, we manifest and show off His power, wisdom, authority, dominion, creativity, and so much more.
Crucially, this new creation transcends the boundaries of race, ethnicity, class, or religion. Its unifying factor lies in the shared seed of God, enabling the production of fruits reflecting His nature. The blood of the Lamb, who was slain, courses through the spiritual veins of this new creation.
Remarkably, in the natural realm, regardless of colour or race, everyone’s blood flows the same—united in the universal hue of red. This perhaps serves as a supernatural revelation, emphasizing the insignificance of the colour of our flesh. What truly matters is the condition of our souls, and whether or not it is infiltrated by the Holy Spirit—the third person of the Trinity.
2 Corinthians 3:16-18 (NLT):
But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Colossians 3:10-11
“Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.”
As I conclude this yuletide season’s blog, my main message is this: Amidst the festivities of gifts, food, treats, and family time this Christmas, let’s not lose sight of the true reason for the season. In the midst of the celebrations, let’s take a moment to elevate our praise to God thanking Him for His remarkable and meticulously designed redemption plan.
Let’s express gratitude for the chance to be renewed by His Spirit, enabling us to walk in the Spirit rather than in the flesh. This renewal empowers us to carry forth and reproduce His heavenly seed on earth, manifesting His divine will on earth as it is in heaven.
Oswald Chambers wrote in His devotional titled “My Utmost for His Highest” the following:
“Just as Our Lord came into human history from outside, so He must come into me from outside. Have I allowed my personal human life to become a ‘Bethlehem’ for the Son of God? I cannot enter into the realm of the Kingdom of God unless I am born from above by a birth totally unlike natural birth. “Ye must be born again”.”
Undoubtedly, Jesus Christ was born into this fallen world. However, as you contemplate this Christmas and beyond, consider this: Have you been born again into this fallen world as well? If you have been, it would be evident by the fruits you produce. A tree can only produce the seed of its kind. Today is the perfect day to undergo a divine DNA test.
Be blessed!
