GOD SPEAKS TO THOSE WHO CARE

Cultivating the life of the soul is especially important however, human nature can be a very contradictory thing. We sacrifice and toil after success and riches in our earthly quests but often neglect to apply the same vigour and mindset to our spirituality. Many believers have set limitations on what they are willing to do for the Lord and have convenient specifications on what they can afford to sacrifice for Him on their Christian path.

There is no doubt that everyone’s walk with Christ is personal. While we share the same manual for living which is the Bible, we all have our unique encounters, purposes and crosses to bear. Many believe that once they have accepted Christ as their Saviour, there is nothing left within them to save. They view salvation as an all-access pass to all the good things that God promised for His people and tend to take detours when the path is not ideal or what they expect.

The God we serve is not only a Creator but he is also a tester of men. He is the original scientist testing the hypotheses created within the hearts of men. He knows that many will give Christianity a trial run and craft out their own cost-benefit analysis to see if the transition from the world is worth it. Oftentimes when persons do not have a genuine encounter with Christ, they will test Christianity in search of signs and are usually too blind to see the evidence of God in their lives. When they do not see any sign that is of convenience and usefulness to them such as healing, prosperity or justice, they become stagnant or turn away altogether.

On the other end of life’s spectrum, we see where believers follow the path of Christ and enjoy the bounty of their labours in Him. These persons are at risk of losing focus as the devil seeks to distract them at any unguarded moment. Luke 21: 34-36 reads “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

The world is advancing at an increasingly fast pace in today’s modern era and the list of distractions are so tall that they’ve become another mountain in our lives to climb. How many times have you hit the snooze button on your Christianity and God’s plans to accommodate your own selfish ambitions?

The problem with the world today is not that God is silent. The problem is that many of us do not care enough to hear Him. I am not talking about our bouts of short-lived caring where we try to box God into who we want Him to be. I am talking about caring enough about who God IS and the appointment of His plans!

Do not be deceived – God is not the one in need, we are! Do you care enough to Hear Him, to Seek Him, to Find Him and to Follow Him?

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK “MEN WHO MET GOD” BY A.W. TOZER: “People are slow to take God at his Word. Men and women are now in hell who had the belief that God was going to do for them what only they could do for themselves. They have gone out into eternity without ever having said “Jesus, I come.” They wanted God to do what He specifically had told them to do!”
